There is a temporary halt to F150 production at Ford, due to a fire at a parts supplier company, it may last a couple weeks

Seems like both plants that make the trucks are going to lay off workers for a bit, but the good news is that they get most of their regular pay during such rare occurances. The two plants that make the F150 are in Dearborn, Michigan and Kansas City, Missouri. https://powernationtv.com/post/ford-is-suspending-production-of-f-150-trucks

And be warned that Galicia is one of the areas of Spain where the presence of traps in the forest has been reported often in the past couple years, including the above impaling spear https://www.todomountainbike.net/art/alerta-en-galicia-trampas-para-ciclistas-en-gondomar-pontevedra

Someone in Michigan is a legislator that finally figured out that license plates and tow hitch balls have an inherent conflicting location

A bill has been approved by the Michigan legislature to allow for the attachment of a tow ball, bicycle rack, removable hitch or any other device designed to carry an object on the rear of a vehicle even if it obstructs the rear license plate. https://www.sema.org/sema-enews/2018/19/michigan-bill-to-ease-towing-restrictions-sent-to-governor

Terrible news from India highlights what a deplorable condition some countries are in due to lack of honest merchants

Don't drink anything that isn't in a sealed container from a manufacturer... and be careful what you eat, too. Indian tea seller caught using water from train toilet. Enough said? But, keep in mind, a middle school student making a science fair project found that in American fast food restaurants, many ice machines were more contaminated with E-Coli than the water in the toilets.   https://abcnews.go.com/GMA/OnCall/story?id=1641825&page=1 This incident follows recent scandal in the eastern city of Kolkata, famed for its Bengal delicacies, police this week unearthed a racket in which 20 tonnes of rotten meat from dumps was being sold to restaurants. Police suspect a lot more had been sent out to city restaurants. Still want to travel the world? Bring some dehydrated K rations. Or, wind up finding out what the local hospital care is like. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/may/03/indian-tea-seller-caught-using-water-from-train-toilet

it took 15 years and $33.7 million wasted for Fort Lauderdale to figure out that streetcars aren't going to happen, as the projected costs kept increasing

Image
the original project cost was $142 million, the most recent and rejected bids were for around 193 million, and the projected cost over runs would add to the total, now an estimated $226 Seem ridiculous? 200 million plus or minus 10 perent, to put in street cars... for 3 miles of track. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/local/broward/fl-sb-wave-streetcar-decision-expenses-20180509-story.html https://www.local10.com/news/local/fort-lauderdale/wave-streetcar-a-history-of-the-project-years-in-the-making

Damn, she was so pissed at the cable guy, she turned off his truck while he was up in the basket, leaving him stuck up there!

This happened in New Jersey of course. Something about NJ just seems to hit every line in the check off sheet about angry rude self centered people. She is 59 years old, and was arrested. http://www.dispatch.com/news/20180510/woman-angry-at-cable-tv-worker-leaves-him-suspended-in-trucks-aerial-lift

Bus drivers in the Japanese city of Okayama are on strike, but they're still working, driving around picking up passengers.

Image
But they're not doing a key part of the job - accepting fares - as they seek greater job security in the face of stiff competition from a rival company. The free rides are helping the company preserve its relationship with the passengers in the face of competition. https://citizen.co.za/opinion/opinion-editorials/1916128/bus-strikes-learn-a-lesson-from-japan/ As the national bus strike enters its fourth week with no sign of a settlement – and with millions of commuters still inconvenienced, it is interesting to see how striking bus drivers in Japan highlighted their grievances. Drivers employed by the Ryobi Group in the Western Japanese region of Okayama embarked on their protest action after they and their company could not reach an agreement on job security, following increased competition from a rival offering lower fares. They continued to drive their buses, but covered up the ticket machines with cloths or blankets and allowed commuters to ride for free. https://citizen.co.za/...

First time anyone has actually found a way to save significant money on car insurance... a guy legally changed his gender on the official paperwork, saved 25% (from $4500 as a man, to $3400 as a woman)

When getting a new car, and the consequent insurance, a guy was quoted $4517 a year, Canadian. He was wondering about how to get it cheaper, learned that women pay less, and then asked for a quote if he changed his gender. Bingo, that's the key! The new quote was $3423. How is this even a thing? The insurer explained to him that it is illegal to discriminate on the basis of gender when it comes to basic auto-insurance. When it comes to collision, however, it’s still legal to discriminate against genders on the basis of contrast in driving-statistics. Further, and here it gets wordy, so grab some caffeine: it is in fact discrimination against men because the insurance companies are not insuring all men collectively, they are insuring the individual. If you're going to be charged more based on your common traits with others? Then you're being discriminated against for not having traits in common with people that get cheaper insurance rates Also, poor driving is a behavioral t...

How much is a parking lot worth? In Santa Monica? What about if a celeb super star owned it last? Now, is it worth less when you learn Bill Cosby is selling it? I doubt it.

Image
whatever gets built there in the future, the city has already painted all the curbs around it red. So, the next thing to get built there? Will have maximum visibility from the roads near it That property is currently a parking lot at the corner of Marine Street and Main, and is on the market for $5.7 million. The lot is 6,024 square feet and has the potential for a 4,018-square-foot building. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/bill-cosby-is-shedding-tens-millions-la-real-estate-1106673
